The Sauco Mill is located in the valley of Barranco de los Agujeros, in the heart of the Sierra de La Sagra. It is an area declared a Special Conservation Interest where we can find a wide variety of fauna, including large ungulates such as deer, fallow deer, wild boar, mountain goats and mouflons.

On the estate, of more than 600 hectares, where Molino Sauco is located, we can enjoy the observation of this type of fauna, thanks to our guided routes in a 4×4 vehicle. It is a luxury for lovers of animals and nature photography. With luck we will be able to see some wild predators, such as foxes, and in our photo-trapping cameras we have been able to confirm the presence of wild cats and other small predators such as badgers, martens and genets.

This is also a paradise for bird lovers. Large carrion-eating birds of prey can be seen frequently flying over the area, and with a bit of luck we will see them perched in a pine tree. We can mainly see griffon vultures, but the emblematic bearded vulture can also be seen from time to time. Numerous species of eagles frequent the area, including the booted eagle, the short-toed eagle and the buzzard. Of course, if we pay some attention, we can also see a wide variety of typical birds of the undergrowth, such as the woodpecker, the jay, the oriole, the cuckoo and a large number of passerines.
It is also a unique area for the presence of reptiles and amphibians, with some rarities, such as the Valverde Lizardan endemism of the area.
Finally, the insect community is also very remarkable, mainly due to the interest of the butterfly species that reproduce in this mountain range.

We encourage you to come and discover the marvellous fauna hidden in the Sierra de La Sagra, which you can enjoy thanks to our guided wildlife observation routes.
